While most of the youngsters sacrifice their dreams for getting into the IIT’s, here’s a story which inspires us to always follow our hearts.
Hailing from Uttrakhand,17-year-old Shivansh Joshi shocked everyone when despite getting admission offers from IIT’s he chose to join the Indian Army.He not only gave the NDA exams but ended up topping them with a score of 97 percent.Earlier he had also cracked the IIT-JEE advanced and was guaranteed an IIT admission but for Shivansh serving the nation has always been the first priority.
“Serving the country has been my objective since childhood. The love for the country runs in the blood of youngsters of Uttarakhand and I feel fortunate to be living my dream now,” Shivansh told Hindustan Times.
From childhood, Shivansh has been very clear in his mind about what he wanted to pursue in future.“It was always my dream to serve in the Army. To achieve this, I did whatever it takes and will keep doing so even after getting commissioned,” Joshi told Indiatimes.
Both his parents were beaming with pride that he would be donning a uniform. His father Subhash Joshi is an executive with the Life Insurance Corporation of India while his mother is a school teacher. Shivansh says his family supported his choice of NDA over IIT
“My family has always supported me. All my father said is if you want to join the NDA first prove that you can crack IIT, and I did it,” he said.
“The key to cracking such competitions is control over your routine,” he said. Shivansh’s schedule did not include hours of study but was well coordinated with sports and other activities like reading.
This is probably the first time when a youth from Uttarakhand has topped the NDA entrance examination. “I am extremely proud and fortunate to come from a state, which has given the nation people such as national security advisor Ajit Kumar Doval and General Bipin Rawat, the chief of Army staff. I too want to dedicate my life for the security and pride of the country,” he said.
We are proud of Shivansh and wish him all the best for the future!
