2017 year has indeed been a year of railway accidents. We often have come across such news where there was a loss of lives of hundreds of passengers. As railways are the chief means of transportation used by Indians it inculcated fear for railway journeys and we ended up blaming the government for its carelessness.
But a 12 YO boy, named Bhim Yadav has done something out of the box. According to Gulf News, the 5th-grade student from Mangalpur, Bihar saw a break in Gorakhpur-Narkatiaganj railway tracks on his way to orchards.
Seeing a speeding train from a distance, he anticipated the danger, took off his red shirt and waved it in order to stop the train. The boy was shivering in cold but kept waving his red shirt at the train until the driver applied emergency brakes.
Reports said initially, the driver could not understand what was happening but when the boy went on continuously flagging his red shirt, the driver applied the emergency brake and stopped the train midway.
“THAT IS INDEED A BRAVE ACT. WE ARE GOING TO REWARD HIM FOR HIS BRAVERY, WHICH SAVED THE LIVES OF PASSENGERS. THE REWARD COULD BE IN FORM OF CASH OR CITATION.” says the local education officer.
Cash or citation, no every reward would fall short to accomplish the brave and nobility of the little braveheart’s deed.
Chief public relations officer of the East Central Railways, Rajesh Kumar said to Gulf news, “We really are proud of this boy and salute his bravery.” Even railway can’t thank him enough!
Let’s see what this hero kid himself has to say.
“Once I had visited a relative in the nearby village where the people were talking about a bravery of a boy. I too wanted to do something so that the society could discuss about me as well. I am happy to save the lives of the passengers.”
Not just your locality, dude, the whole country is drooling over your bravery!
What if this Messiah wouldn’t have arrived on time? Can we realize here that hundreds of life were at stake due to another skipped repair of railway tracks? It’s really good to see the alertness of citizens but God saves the fate of railways until Government comes to action!
