Bihar: A group of armed youths on June 14, tied up a male, a medical practitioner, and allegedly gang-raped her wife and daughter in Konch police station area on Wednesday night. The family was waylaid while it was crossing the area on a motorcycle near Sondiha village under Konch police station. Following this, the station house officer was suspended and 20 youths were detained.
Here’s the heart-wrenching ordeal as narrated by the victim
Now many RJD leaders, including its national general secretary Alok Kumar Mehta and MLA Surendra Yadav, have been booked for allegedly forcing a minor gang-raped victim to get down from a police vehicle and narrate her ordeal in public in Bihar’s Gaya district.
A video has been leaked online, apparently shot by one of the RJD supporters who is the principal opposition party in Bihar showing fact-finding team members forcing the rape survivor out of a vehicle at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College at Gaya, where she was brought for medical examination on Friday.
Despite her wanting to leave, as seen in the video, she’s forced to answer the questions and hence disclose her identity.
“Please don’t take me out of the vehicle. I don’t want to show my face to the world till the culprits are hanged to death. My only wish is to see them hanged,” she said. The “fact-finding team was constituted by Tejaswi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Vidhan Sabha.
An FIR has been lodged against the respective people who include, national general secretary Mehta, Belaganj MLA from Belaganj in Gaya district Surendra Prasad Yadav, the party’s state president of women’s cell Abhalata, RJD’s district president Murshid Alam alias Nezam, district president of RJD’s women’s cell Sarswati Devi and other unnamed persons in the case.
The case was lodged with Medical Police Station under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the DIG said.
Mehta, a former Bihar minister termed the allegations against him as “false” and said it was just to divert the public’s attention from the accused.
“This is an attempt to divert people’s attention from the case in order to protect the accused by the state government…Whatever allegations have been leveled against me are completely wrong and false,” he told PTI.
“Why the police took the victim after 38 hours of the incident for medical examination instead of getting it done within 24 hours?” he accused the police.
He also mentioned that the party’s team was just requesting the girl for some information and she gut furious after seeing the media.
Three people have been arrested in the case, two of them- Shivam Sharma and Gaurav Sharma- belonged to Sonediha village while the third Dipak Paswan hailed from Mangalore, a neighboring village.
The brutalization of women has risen alarmingly and curbing of bestial masculinity and inefficiency of the police and the judicial system seems like a daunting challenge to our country and it’s countrymen. And on top of that, when a victim is scared to reveal her identity but is still coming forward to tell what happened to her, is been forced to answer the questions she doesn’t want to.
Rape has become an everyday news and some of our authorities feel ashamed to even talk about such incidents when they should come out and stand by the victims of their nation.
This can happen to anybody, someone we know or we don’t, and we should stand up for them, no matter what. They are already broken, their country and their authorities failed them. We, a family of millions shouldn’t, because again, this can happen to anybody, and we would want someone to support us.
