As they got hungry because of the long journey from Ghaziabad to Muzaffarnagar, they stopped at a roadside drive-in for food, which is located at Partapur on National Highway 58.

At about 11’o clock they resumed their journey when four men in a car which had a fake number plate, started chasing them. They overtook their vehicle near Mataur village which is located barely within a kilometer distance from Daurala police station.

As both, the bride and groom belong to relatively poor families, all the jewelry the bride was wearing were artificial. The robbers mistook it as gold. Holding the victims at gunpoint they ordered them to hand over all the expenses, including money and jewelry.
