In a shocking incident that took place in Chandigarh, a 34-year-old woman science teacher got arrested for sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy, who used to take tuition classes from her.
Both the victim and the accused resides at Ram Darbar colony in Sector 31, Chandigarh. Being neighbours, both the families were accustomed to each other well. On account of this, the minor boy and his younger sister started taking tuitions from the woman in September 2017.
In March, this year, his mother noticed a gradual drop in his grades and barred him from attending tuitions furthermore.
The teacher who herself is a mother of two girls, aged 10 years and 8 years had grown obsessed about the boy. She contacted his parents in April, this year and pleaded to send him for tuitions. Her desperation went so bad that on Monday he asked his parents to meet her with their son for one last time. She locked the boy in a room in the presence of his parents and her husband and daughters. She started screaming that the boy would stay with her and asked her husband to stay out of this.
However, neighbours got themselves involved in the matter and rescued the boy.
But, unfortunately, it did not end there. The teacher broke into the victim’s house, got hold of a bottle of cough syrup and gulped it down saying that she was committing suicide.
The victim’s parents called the police on Monday and the teacher was taken to the hospital and remained hospitalised for a day.
As situations started worsening his parents confronted the teacher one last time and contacted the childline, a 24-hour, toll-free, telephone helpline service, on Wednesday. They were guided to lodge a police complaint and a case got registered under Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act.
“The teacher requested the boy’s parents to send their daughter too for tuition separately so that she could ‘focus’ on their son. The parents agreed but on the pretext of imparting him knowledge, she started luring the boy physically in the beginning of 2018. She also gave him a SIM card to stay in touch with her,” said Dr Sangeeta Jund, the project director of Childline, Chandigarh, to the Hindustan Times.
On Thursday the accused was produced before a local court and got remanded in judicial custody.
It’s a matter of concern that what wrong is happening with people to admit such crimes. Be it a girl child or a boy child the responsibility falls on the society to protect the minor kids from any kind of harm. It’s utterly shameful that even after being a mother and as well as a teacher she got involved in such a heinous crime.
