The number of assault cases going on in our country is so high that even thinking about a future with improved women safety status looks like a distant dream. After the recent Chandigarh gangrape case, MP Kirron Kher had suggested girls to not take an auto when there are already some men present inside it.
Here is an incident from Dehradun where a Twitter user has shared her horrific experience on how she escaped a probable mishap. Point to be noted, she even refused to take an auto still this happened.
The girl, with the username @AISoKohlic, detailed the incident to the CM Trivendra Singh Rawat in nearly seven tweets. She boarded a city bus near the Clock Tower around 7 pm on Tuesday but the bus driver refused to stop the vehicle when she reached her destination
It was not even 7.
I stood by the roadside waiting for the city bus which I take almost everyday.
A shared auto came and stopped infront of me, I peeped inside, saw a couple of guys and nodded a No. The bus arrived and I was relieved. Got on the bus. It was relatively empty.— फ़ितूर (@AlSoKohlic) December 3, 2017
When the girl boarded the public transport she found only a handful of men were present. To her surprise when her stop arrived the driver and conductor refused to stop the bus.
Around a dozen males including the driver and the conductor. I took a seat and paid the conductor informing him about my stop. As I saw my stop approaching, I picked up my bag but the bus wasn't slowing down. And before I could say anything, my stop was left behind.

I confronted the conductor and he just wouldn't say a word. I yelled at the driver to no avail. I got to the first number on speed dial threatening them that I was calling my father which had no impact. I gave up midway and decided to call police, yelling it before I did.

When the conductor and the driver didn’t respond to her confrontation she decided to fake a call to the Police as the call was not getting connected. This is when the driver stopped the bus.
The call didn't connect. The conductor reached for my phone. But I started to pretend as if it the call got connected and started blurting out the location. The conductor yelled at the driver to stop when he heard me taking to police.
The bus stopped and I ran down.— फ़ितूर (@AlSoKohlic) December 3, 2017
It was dark and they fled before I could take the number down.
There were other men in bus. Not even one spoke. I don't know if they were acquaintances but no one spoke. NO FUCKING BODY.

Responding to her Tweet the Uttrakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat directed Dehradun SSP to take prompt action and arrest the culprits. He also praised the girl for the way in which she handled the situation.
.@DehradunSsp – Please go through this thread and do the needful and send an update on this matter- must commend @AlSoKohlic for her presence of mind; it is our duty now to nab the culprits & set an example so that no daughter faces this ordeal again https://t.co/u4ZCHFQ3XG

According to a report by TOI, the police late on Tuesday booked the unknown driver and conductor under Section 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and the search is on for the driver. But what is more shocking in the case is the fact that people are blaming the victim for “making it a big issue” and ruining the name of family as nothing really happened to her at the end.
To top it all.

Do we really need to wait for our daughters to get raped then only we can react? We appreciate the prompt action taken by the administration in arresting the accused conductor and seizing the bus.
