In a yet another horrendous incident from the national capital that was caught on camera, a 60-year-old shopkeeper was caught red-handed groping an 11-year-old girl. The incident that happened in Dakshinpuri area of East Delhi once again proves how small kids are an easy prey for these pedophiles. According to a survey by humanitarian aid organization World Vision India, one in every two children is a victim of sexual assault out of which a large number of cases go unregistered.
The store owner has been arrested on charges of molesting the 11-year-old girl. The girl had come to his shop to buy groceries on Tuesday evening where the shop owner started touching her inappropriately. The man can be clearly seen groping her in the video. Locals have alleged that he often used to target small children.
While the shopkeeper was groping the girl, luckily another customer captured the entire act on his mobile phone noticing which the accused stopped. The local youth uploaded the video on social media after which it went viral. Following this, the locals approached the police asking for action against the accused.
“The accused has been booked under section 354 of the IPC (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” a Hindustan Times report quoted a senior police officer as saying. The child was sent for a medical examination and the accused had been arrested.
This shameful incident is a grim reminder of how unsafe our girls are, the harassers don’t fear the law and always have the audacity to grope and molest them anywhere at any point of time. Most of the time shocked by the act the kids don’t realize immediately what happened to them and don’t report it to their parents. Parents need to teach their children about good and bad touch and should encourage them to come forward if any such incident occurs to them
