In a humanitarian gesture, Kolkata Knight Riders captain and former Indian skipper who was declared Man Of The Match for Friday’s match, donated his award money to the Sukma CRPF martyrs.”Whatever awards I’ve earned, all the money goes to CRPF jawans”, he told while receiving his MOM award.

Earlier, on Friday, he also declared that he will bear the full educational expenses of the children of all the 25 CRPF jawans killed in Sukma attack.”The Gautam Gambhir Foundation will take care of the entire education expenses of the children of these martyrs”, he wrote on Twitter.

The KKR captain wrote in a column for Hindustan Times that he was shaken by the massacre and two newspaper images of grieving daughters of two martyred CRPF officials left him feeling hollow.

“On Wednesday morning, I picked up newspapers and saw gut-wrenching pictures of the daughters of two CRPF men killed in the latest attacks. One was saluting her martyred father while in the other picture, the howling young woman was being consoled by her relative,” Gambhir wrote in his column.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ players were also seen wearing black arm-bands in the match against Rising Pune Supergiant to commemorate the tragic incident. Gambhir has always been vocal regarding issues of national interest. Regarding the attacks, he wrote on Twitter, “Chattisgarh, Kashmir, North East, do we need more alarm bells or are we a deaf state? Life of my countrymen isn’t cheap, someone needs 2 pay 4 it.”
