Last week the images of Zohra, the daughter of the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police Abdul Rasheed from Kashmir surfaced on the internet and were enough to break our heart into pieces. Abdul Rasheed was martyred on on August 28 after he was shot at and injured by terrorists in south Kashmir’s Anantnag. He was admitted to a hospital in Anantnag where he succumbed to his injuries.

Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir today announced on his social media handles that he might not be able to bring Zohra’s father back but he would help her in living her dreams by supporting her education for lifetime.

Gambhir wrote “Zohra, I can’t put you to sleep with a lullaby but I’ll help you to wake up to live ur dreams. Will support ur education for lifetime #daughterofIndia”.

The little Zohra replied “Thank you Gautam Sir, me and my family are very happy with your gesture, I want to become a doctor”.

Zohra, please don’t let those tears fall as I doubt even Mother Earth can take the weight of your pain. Salutes to your martyred dad ASI, Abdul Rashid,” Gambhir wrote earlier. He added that he least he could do make it worthwhile for her to wake up every day was support her dreams.

Gambhir replied to Zohra’s thanks

This is not the first time Gambhir had stepped forward for help. Earlier this year he had also pledged to bear the full educational expenses of the children of 25 CRPF martyrs.Under the Gautam Gambhir Foundation, a free community kitchen was also started this year on July 31 when he started free food service for the needy and the poor.He had also stepped forward for helping a cancer survivor athlete.

We really appreciate the initiatives taken by Gambhir for the betterment of the society and hope other influential celebrities will also come forward and take such initiatives.
