Humanity died a death when a recently operated man was made to rest on his own severed leg pillow. The bus conductor of Deepak Memorial School of Jhansi, Ghanshyam of 28 met with an accident while the bus was on its way to school. He happened to slit his left leg into a piece and was immediately taken to a government-run medical college on Saturday.

Ghanshyam had been operated by the doctors when they said that the severed leg was of no use as the tissues are dead and won’t be stitched again. After the operation, he was being laid on a stretcher with his severed leg under his head. Maybe the hospital authorities wanted to keep their pillow unused, only if they had one!

Maharani Laxmibai medical college is affiliated to Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. The minister of medical education, Ashutosh Tandon has demanded suspension of 4 staff members- Dr. Mahendra Pal Singh, emergency medical officer, Dr. Alok Agarwal a senior resident and two nurses, Deepa Narang and Shashi Srivastava. Dr. KK Gupta, the director general has assured a proceeding against the on-duty consultant doctor, Dr. Praveen Saraogi, as being reported by the Times of India.

“When we reached the hospital, we saw his leg being used as a headrest. I repeatedly asked the doctors to intervene but they refused,” Janki Prasad, a relative of the patient told to NDTV.
Later the family shifted the victim to a private hospital being left with the only option as the patient was not being attended by anybody.

Dr. Rajeev Sinha, the head of the department of surgery will be heading a committee to proceed the inquiry and shall give their report in next 48 hours, assured the principal Dr. Sadhna Kaushik. CCTV footages shall also be looked upon to hunt for the culprit reported the Hindustan Times.

At least the authorities have come up taking the responsibility of the mishap but they are supposed to be more responsible for keeping a check on the routine and the actions being carried out on the premises. More than a jurisdictional matter, it is a matter of humanity which leaves our head low in shame.
