While a lot of debate has been going on about the FOS, some people tend to take it too far. If you are an atheist that’s perfectly ok and it’s up to you to follow a religion or not. But, hurting the religious sentiments of others by abusing their beliefs and hate mongering should not be done.
While most of the people in the country are busy in worshipping Goddess Durga during Navratra, a DU professor landed in trouble for his derogatory Facebook post about the Hindu Goddess and calling her “Prostitute”.
Kedar Kumar Mandal, an assistant professor of Delhi University’s Dyal Singh College, faced a lot of backlash on social media for his disrespectful remarks about Hindu Goddess Durga that he posted on social media on September 22, 2017. He has now been booked for the same by the Delhi Police.
Mandal’s remark on goddess Durga has gotten him in a lot of trouble as student organizations like Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) have demanded the dismissal of the professor from DU administration.
A police complaint at Lodhi Road police station has also been lodged against the DU professor for his remark by The National Democratic Teachers Front, a teacher’s body which also comprises of his colleagues.
