According to a report, Mamoni was abandoned by her husband when she was young, since that day she is pulling the rickshaw to support her daughter’s dream. The matter was highlighted following a Facebook post shared by Bharatiya Jatiya Congress, Block General Secretary, Jitu Saikia in the Assam Page.
A local Northeast news website quoted Jitu as saying, “For Mamoni her daughter is everything. Her daughter Mamu is a wrestler and is a student of class 10. She will represent Golaghat district in the upcoming Assam Wrestling Competition in Guwahati scheduled from December 27. Betrayed by her husband, has left Mamoni with no choice but continue with this business.”
Earlier, Mamoni Das on several occasions had asked for support from various organizations but all the request fell on deaf ears. But this time around things look brighter after popular singer Papon tweeted her story.
Famous Assamese singer Angaraag Papon Mahanta tweeted to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for help.On Thursday, Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma replied to Papon’s tweet. Biswa wrote, “I spoke to her. Will provide her a soft bank loan without mortgage to start her own business.”
