Mumbai: Police arrested a 22-year-old woman, earlier in November, who allegedly married a minor boy of seventeen years of age and sexually assaulted him. The boy’s mother filed a complaint against the woman saying she threatened the family; that she would do something to herself if they didn’t let her live with them.
The woman is currently in Byculla police station with her five-month-old daughter and she has approached the Mumbai Sessions Court for bail. According to TOI, she claims that they had got married last year and the relationship was consensual.
According to a report in India Today, the case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Child Marriage Act is registered against her at the Kurla Police Station. The boy’s mother also mentioned that the woman had “enticed” his son and also that she was a two-time divorcee. The boy and the woman had been in contact for more than two years. The boy also informed his father about the suicidal threats that the woman used on him. The F.I.R was lodged last year and the woman was arrested in November this year.
The woman, in her bail plea, claimed that the boy was not a minor and that the relationship was mutual. She also claims that she wasn’t involved in any criminal/offensive activity with the boy.
The sessions court has heard both the sides and the judgment is awaited on Friday i.e. 7th December.
