Mumbai: A 38-year-old was arrested on Sunday on charges of molestation for flashing a girl inside a State Bank of India ATM. As per reports, the accused, Sandeep Kumbharkar, was caught after the girl filed a complaint regarding the same at Navghar police station.
The accused first touched her inappropriately and started moving in closer. Once the girl refused, he called her and unlocked his zip to flash her. The girl then took control of the situation and quietly recorded him. Once he realised the same, he freaked out and left the ATM.
She then ran behind him to look for a PCR van. The accused was on a run. The cops after watching the video followed the man and nabbed him.
Senior police inspector Pushkraj Suryavanshi, Navghar police station, said, “When the girl approached the patrol van, assistant police inspector Bharat Jadhav and his team followed the perpetrator and arrested him in Hari Om Nagar.”
“He was crying and pleading, but I knew I had to take action against him. So, along with my dad, I filed an FIR against him. He claimed to be drunk at the time, which does not excuse his actions at all. What he did, was scary and terrifying. This was a locality wherein I felt safe. But he has ruined it for me. I can’t walk the streets feeling the same sense of safety. AND THIS IS MY HOME!,” she wrote in her social media post.
It is disgusting to know the extent some men can go, and yet sad as to how we as women can’t be safe even in our localities, societies or even our homes.
