Visitors arriving at the La-Touche Road Puja Sangsad experienced the “taste” of communal harmony on Saptami (the 7th day of Navratra), with puja organisers using almost 60 litres of milk supplied by a Muslim milkman to prepare the kheer being offered to Goddess Durga.
With the puja celebrations entering its 75th year, the example of communal harmony
shown by the puja samiti is certainly a beautiful gesture.Organisers feel that this would certainly go a long way in strengthening the Ganga-Jamuni culture, which is synonymous with Lucknow.
Daulat Ali Khosi the head of Uttar Pradesh unit of all India Muslim Ghosi Association , had been donating milk on various religious occasions but has earned the limelight for the first time by providing 60 litres of free milk to prepare the prasad of mahaspatami in Durga pooja.
Little did he know that his small gesture will help enhance the harmony between the two communities.
According to Manoj Goswami, a senior office bearer of puja samiti, “The gesture of Daulat Ali Ghosi offering milk free of cost to prepare the kheer is certainly a good gesture, and we would treasure this moment for lifetime.” He further stated that Daulat Ali Ghosi had initially agreed to supply almost 25 litres of milk, which he subsequently increased to 60 litres and was extensively used in preparing the kheer on the occasion of Mahasaptami.
Daulat Ali Ghosi, who is heading the Uttar Pradesh unit of the All India Muslim Ghosi Association (AIMGA), termed his gesture as a routine one. “I have been donating milk for different religious occasions across different religions, and this is no different. However, it is perhaps for the first time, that I am donating milk for the Durga Puja , and I am simply overwhelmed,” Daulat Ali said.
The Indian Feed salutes the amazing gesture shown by the members of both the communities !
