CHANDIGARH/ REWARI: Former BSF constable Tej Bahadur Yadav, whose video went viral on social media about “substandard food” served to jawans, was in Prayagraj for Ardh Kumbh when his son accidentally shot himself dead with the gun he bought to work as a security guard.

His wife, Sharmila Yadav, was at work in a private firm when the incident happened on Thursday evening. When she was back she noticed Rohit, their son’s room locked from the inside and wasn’t answering to her queries. She took some neighbours help to open the door and found her son lying in a pool of blood.

Apparently, Tej Bahadur, after being sacked, is still seeking reinstatement before the Punjab and Haryana High Court and purchased the licensed weapon to work as a security guard.

As per reports, “Forensic experts told us that Rohit had tried to take a selfie with the gun, and accidentally shot himself. They have also collected the relevant samples from the spot,” said Bahadur.

“Urmila tried calling Rohit a number of times around 4.30pm on Thursday. Unsuccessful, she asked our neighbours to check on him. But despite several knocks, Rohit didn’t show up at the door. Then the neighbours peeped through the window and found him lying on the bed. And then they informed us and the cops too,” he added.

Tej bought the pistol and ten bullets about six months ago after getting the license hoping to get a job of a security guard. Since the time he got dismissed he took to farming.

“Even the post-mortem report has revealed death from a gunshot. A case has been registered at Model Town police station in Rewari and we have handed over the body to the family,” said ASI Dinesh, the investigating officer.

Rohit was a second-year student of a graduation course. Tej’s wife couldn’t accept her child was no more and is currently hospitalized.
