Too much of #MeToo campaign and news of sexual harassment flooding our timelines, isn’t it? Well, behind camera coverage there are common men who with their humanitarian gestures are proving that not all men are the same. And that, there are men who think caring for security of even an unknown woman is their responsibility.
We’re talking about a bus driver and conductor duo who made the entire bus wait at around 1:30 in the night because of one of their lady passengers.
The lady herself took it to the Twitter to spill the beans and let the world know about the sweet gesture shown to her by the conductor and driver of 398 ltd. She got down the bus when it was around 1:30 in the night and they asked her if anyone was going to come to pick her up. When she said no, they made the entire bus wait at the same stop till she found a suitable Auto ride for herself.
They only left after she got into an auto. Moved by their gesture, the girl Mantasha Shaikh took to social media thanking Prashant Mayekar and Raj Dinkar.
This is the reason i love #Mumbai
I would like to thanks #Best Bus driver of 398 ltd. Who dropped me at 1.30 am at a deserted bus stop and asked me if someone is there to pick me up. To which i replied no. He made the entire bus wait until i got the auto. @WeAreMumbai

Replying to the Mumbaiker’s tweet another lady shares her experience how her teacher kept on accompanying her because she was alone after a bus ride.
This has happened with me too. I was travelling from pune to Mumbai.Met my lecturer on my way…when we reached boriwali bus station, knowing that I was alone & it was 11pm..he stood there with me, untill I booked a cab, gave me his and his wife's number in case I need any help.

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the bus waited until the woman got into auto to see if it was going in the right direction.
Dinkar told Mirror, “During my training, we were provided with a set of guidelines on how to make female passengers, elderly persons and children feel safe and comfortable during the ride. The safety of women passengers is paramount to us. Usually, women or elderly people are the last to get to off our buses. We are extra careful when they take a drop at an isolated place like Aarey Colony.” He also said that when roads are empty and there is no rush to follow the schedule, last buses generally go an extra mile for passengers.
Well, neither is the world bad nor are all men predators. We need to realize that if we’ve bus drivers like the ones who brutally raped and assaulted Nirbhaya in Delhi, we too have angels like this Mumbai based duo amongst us and that should keep us from accusing a whole gender because of few monsters.
