The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of Class 12 board examinations 2017 on Sunday and as usual, there were happy and sad faces everywhere. Some cleared the exams with flying colors while for others the results brought a feeling of uncertainty towards their future and career.

After a few days from now, everyone will find their career options but some will remember it as a story of their struggle which gave them memories to cherish forever.

One such story is of Ranchi Boy Tushar Rishi who has secured 95% marks in the exam.Tushar who is a student of Delhi Public School scored 95 in Physics,95 in English,93 in Mathematics,89 in Computer and 100 out of 100 in Fine Arts this year. The numbers scored by Tushar are truly magical but sets him apart from the fact that Tushar scored these marks without any additional coaching and during the preparation days he was struggling with Bone Cancer. Rishi had to visit the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi every 3 months for treatment and checkup.

Rishi was detected with bone cancer in his left knee in the year 2014 due to which he had
to skip his 10th Board exams.“The bone cancer was detected just after my Class 10 mock exams in 2014.I was under chemotherapy for around 11 months. It has obviously changed me a lot, but I try and stay focused on my academics,” Hindustan Times quotes Rishi.

But, when Rishi returned from the chemotherapy he scored 10 CGPA in 2015 exams. Rishi is in a better condition now but has to visit AIIMS New Delhi in every 3 months. Unlike the majority of students instead of going for science, Rishi plans to pursue his career graduation in English or Economics from DU.

Rishi’s mother who is a professor at BIT Mesra said, “He was fully dependent on the classes at school as he did not attend coaching. I am more than happy with his performance. I have seen him battle cancer and I know how difficult it was for him. I hope he stays healthy and achieves all his career goals”.

Apart from excelling in academics Rishi has also written a book “The Patient Patient” about
the story of his struggle as a young cancer survivor.

Rishi’s fight against the Cancer still continues but he has been kept on a strict diet and
has been told to take proper care of him to avoid any recurrence of the cancerous cells.

The way Rishi has handled all the treatments along with his studies along with publishing of a book, he is surely an inspiration for everyone out there. We hope Ravi recovers from the deadly disease as soon as possible and continues to excel in his career, the world certainly needs more gems like him.
