“She had taken the money for a festival. I borrowed Rs 500 from Mohan Pal and further arranged Rs 1,000 from others. We asked her for the money several times. She repeatedly sought more time but we declined. We pulled her to the fields and took turns to rape her. The minor who was with us during the incident was not involved in the gangrape. However, he kept a watch.” Says Zahid, the prime accused to a press conference at police lines in a much unapologetic tone.
As reported by Hindustan Times, the 17 YO girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Muradnagar is a class 11th dropout and had been to a photocopy shop of her locality on Wednesday. On her way back home Zahid, Mohan Pal and another minor boy with them stopped her bicycle and demanded a sum of RS 1500 from her that she had once borrowed from them.
The girl requested to grant her more time but this enraged the men because she had been asking for time since long. They abducted her to a desolate place and assaulted her. Uninvolved in the harassment, the minor boy kept a watch on the road along with the girl’s bicycle. The girl resisted but the criminals threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone.
The girl’s family filed a complaint with the police after which police registered a case under the IPC section gangrape and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Muradnagar police station. On Thursday, all three including the minor were taken into custody and produced before Ghaziabad court on Friday which remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days.
Senior superintendent of police (Ghaziabad) Vaibhav Krishna additionally admits the girl having been raped over a little amount of money.
We wonder how people come up with such henious ideas. Raping a girl because she’s unable to repay loan can’t be thought of by a healthy mind. Her parents could be confronted instead. Looks like people don’t think of rape as a crime anymore but some form of ‘wasooli’.
