According to the police, the incident took place when the police team visited Bikaru village in Chaubeypur police station area where they were ambushed when they had gone to arrest Vikas Dubey, a history-sheeter facing 60 criminal charges. It is not clear whether the information of the police carrying out the secret encounter got leaked or there was any lapse on the part of the police.
