Dinesh was a studious boy. He cleared his class 12 examinations and was preparing for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET). His biological mother Esakiammal died nine years ago, after that his father S Madasamy, who works as a labourer in Kerala, married another woman. Dinesh was the eldest of the three siblings.
Police discovered Dinesh’s body hanging from a bridge in Tirunelveli along with a suicide note written in Tamil. The note reads “Appa, this is Dinesh writing this letter. You should not drink after I die. You should not light my pyre because you drink. You don’t shave your head. To put it openly, you don’t do my last rites. This is my wish. Only then my soul will rest in peace…Stop drinking at least now Appa. This is my wish. Only then I will be at peace…Let us see if the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister shuts down alcohol outlets at least now. If he doesn’t, my spirit will come back to do it.”
A damaged phone wrapped in a plastic cover, Dinesh’s NEET examination hall ticket and SSLC mark sheet also got recovered.
After his mother’s death, Dinesh used to live with his paternal uncle Sankarakuthalam in Madurai. Sankarakuthalam said to the Times Of India “He loved his dad and used to ask him to give up alcoholism, but his father did not. The boy had been trying hard for five years to stop him from consuming alcohol.” On Tuesday he told his uncle that he was going to his aunt place. He called up his father and pleaded to give up alcohol. But it turned into a heated argument. Fed up with the situation Dinesh decided to attempt suicide and it all at once.
Talking to TOI his grandfather stated, “He was a studious student. He wanted to become a doctor and had big dreams.”
“He was a very bright student and scored 464 out of 500 in his 10th standard. He wanted to become a doctor and even got the hall ticket for the NEET exam,” Dinesh’s uncle was quoted by TheNewsMinute.
Dinesh’s family was shaken by this heartbreaking incident after listening about the incident. Hopefully, it will put some sense into those people who are consuming alcohol in such an uncontrolled manner that it starts affecting their family life and health as well.
