In yet another incident of sexual assault from the country’s capital, a woman was gang-raped by two men on Delhi-Dehradun highway, after her 3 years old baby was thrown out of the car.

As per the complaint filed by the 26-year-old victim she was called by one of the accused after he told her that he will assist the woman in searching a job. She was then given an alcoholic drink laced with sedatives following which the accused Mehata and his friend gang-raped her.

The child was also thrown out of the car by the accused before the victim was gang-raped, however, he was rushed by the villagers to the hospital and is now out of danger.

Later, the 26-year-old victim was also dropped from the car in Chapar area on the highway in the district, said SP (city) Ombir Singh. Once the woman regained her consciousness she filed a complaint against the accused.

The accused is currently on the run and the victim has been sent for medical examination. At a time when there is a huge anger among the general public against the assault cases, this incident proves nothing is going to change on the ground. Only yesterday, it was reported that a 17-year-old girl was fighting for life after she was raped, doused with kerosene and set on fire.

According to Delhi Police, more than five women were raped every day in the national capital in the first three and a half months this year. The police also claimed that in 96.63 percent of the rape cases reported last year, the accused was known to the victim.
